Agreement between e-GEOS and Ursa for the supply of thousands of radar scenes generated by the COSMO-SkyMed satellites
(26 April 2018 - Telespazio) e-GEOS, a company established by Telespazio (80%) and the Italian Space Agency (20%), and the American Ursa Space Systems (Ursa) have signed a collaboration agreement by which the Italian company will provide thousands of radar scenes generated by the satellites of the COSMO-SkyMed constellation that will serve as an important component for the products distributed by Ursa.The new contract follows the agreement signed one year ago by e-GEOS and Ursa for the distribution of the new and advanced products of data analytics based on radar technology. This agreement has enabled the two companies to develop their respective business in new and interesting markets.

COSMO-SkyMed is the only dual-use radar Earth observation constellation currently in existence worldwide and is used for civilian and military purposes. Ten years after the launch of the first satellite, in 2007, the system has captured over one million images from all over the world, monitoring the Earth 24 hours a day under any weather and visibility conditions and ensuring crucial information essential for security, land monitoring, and the sustainable management of resources, as well as dealing with natural events and emergencies, and combating the effects of climate change.
