Flexitech Aerospace delivers S-band TT&C lunar lander antennas

(1 February 2021 - Flexitech) Flexitech Aerospace has delivered engineering and flight models of its Turnstile S-Band for the TT&C communications system to Intuitive Machines for its Nova-C lander, which will carry NASA-provided and commercial payloads to the Moon.

Designed and manufactured by Flexitech Aerospace, the antennas provide continuous coverage of S-Band from 2 to 2.4GHz. With a wide-angle hemispheric pattern, it is ideal for achieving communications access over a large range of spacecraft attitudes.

Planned for launch in the fourth quarter of 2021 the Nova-C Lander will carry experiments to the moon’s surface. The TT&C radio link will relay commands as well as critical health and payload data from the lander during its journey to the moon and on the surface. Work has already started on the hardware for the lander and through this year the integration and test of the RF communications systems will be completed.
